Who Am I?
My name is Emma-Louise and I am a mother, author and academic. I have Crohn's Disease and numerous other health conditions and after a long period of sickness I decided to pick myself up and go back into education after 15 long years away to study MSc Criminology. I also write thriller, horror and fantasy fiction.
1. Why this, why now
Despite being almost at the end of my masters journey, I feel I am at the beginning of a new chapter of my life. I am aiming to start a PhD once my masters is complete as well as undertaking lots of self-study to further expand the areas I have found of particular interest while I was doing my masters.
I was recently signed to a small traditional publisher for my debut fiction novel as well which is due to be released in January 2025. I would love to share my processes, tips and what I learn on this duel journey I will be taking.
2. The aim of my substack
I would love to create a community of mutual understanding. Where people can be open in their discussions, learn from each other and become intellectually deeper. Quite often in today's world it can be hard to speak your mind, to engage in conversation and discussion which goes against the grain of popular culture and society. This will not be a place to be judgemental, or critical, but a place to learn and grow.
3. What to expect from me
I am new to this and it may take some time to find my feet, I am also writing my masters thesis so posts will be ad-hoc and irregular . However, when I explore research topics, I will post what I am learning and my thoughts on it. I won't always have it right, and I welcome people posting their knowledge, thoughts and experiences on the topic. Just please do so respectfully. We are all here to learn:)
Thanks for reading and please subscribe if you would like to join me on my journey.
